The EB1 visa is an immigrant visa that grants successful applicants and their families a green card to the United States. It encompasses three sub-categories: EB1A, EB1B, and EB1C.
The EB1A category is designed for individuals with specialized abilities in fields such as sciences, athletics, business, or education. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate that they have reached the peak of their field, either through a major international award or by meeting at least three of ten specified criteria, such as lesser-known awards, membership in prestigious associations, or significant contributions to their field.
The EB1B category is intended for outstanding professors and researchers who are recognized internationally as leaders in their academic fields. Applicants must have at least three years of experience in teaching or research and a job offer from a US institution. They need to satisfy at least two out of six criteria, including major academic awards, membership in distinguished associations, and authorship of scholarly articles.
The EB1C category caters to multinational managers and executives, allowing foreign companies to transfer these professionals to a related US company. Unlike EB1A and EB1B, the EB1C does not require labor certification. Applicants must show a qualifying relationship between the foreign and US company, continuous employment as a manager or executive for at least one year within the past three years, and a job offer from the US company in a similar role.
